This Privacy Policy describes how KalaDarshini ("the App", "we", "us", or "our"), developed by Manohar NV ("Developer"), collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
The App requests access to your device's approximate or precise location only while the App is in use. Location is used solely to calculate accurate local panchanga timings (sunrise, Rahu Kalam, Gulika Kalam, and other time-based Hindu calendar data). Location data is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted to our servers or shared with any third party. You may deny location permission at any time; the App will use a default location or a location you manually enter.
The App offers optional paid subscriptions ("Jyotishi Pro" and "Acharya") through the App Store and Google Play. Purchases are processed by Apple and Google respectively. We use RevenueCat (revenuecat.com) to manage subscription entitlements. RevenueCat may collect a pseudonymous device identifier and subscription status to verify your entitlements. No credit card or payment details are ever accessible to us. RevenueCat's privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com/privacy.
The App optionally allows you to sign in with your Google Account to sync Hindu calendar reminders to your Google Calendar. This uses the standard Google OAuth 2.0 flow. If you choose to sign in, the App receives an access token to create and manage calendar events on your behalf. We do not store your Google account credentials or personal profile information. You can revoke access at any time via your Google Account permissions page.
If you enable reminders, the App may send local or push notifications. A device token may be generated for this purpose but is not linked to any personal identifier and is not shared with third parties.
The App includes an optional AI-powered astrology chat powered by Anthropic's Claude API. Text you enter in the chat is sent to Anthropic's servers to generate responses. Please do not share sensitive personal information in the chat. Anthropic's privacy policy is available at anthropic.com/privacy.
We may collect anonymous crash reports and diagnostic information (e.g., via Expo / React Native built-in crash reporting) to improve App stability. This data does not include personally identifiable information.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with the following service providers, and only to the extent necessary to operate the App:

The App does not maintain a server-side user account. Most data (preferences, reminder settings) is stored locally on your device. You can delete all App data by uninstalling the App. If you wish to revoke Google Calendar access, do so via your Google Account settings. If you have questions about data held by RevenueCat, please contact them directly.
The App is intended for users aged 18 and older and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
All data transmitted by the App uses HTTPS/TLS encryption. Location data is processed on-device only and never transmitted. We follow industry-standard practices to protect data in transit.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
